DOYLESTOWN, PA – The Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition today announced a series of voter registration events and resources to assist voters who want to register to vote or learn about voting for the November 3 election.

Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition spearheaded the development of a Get Out The Vote (GOTV) collaborative committee one year ago to coordinate non-partisan voter registration and education activities in Bucks County.   Other members of the collaborative are the League of Women Voters of Bucks County and three branches of the American Association of University Women – Doylestown, Makefield Area and Levittown-Lower Bucks.

“We are excited to join forces with AAUW and the League of Women Voters to coordinate voter registration and education in Bucks County,” said Tam St. Claire, President.  “With each voter we register, we are helping to improve voter participation in elections. This is our democracy, and our elected officials need to hear from all of us on Election Day. Voter registration is the key to helping Americans participate in the political process.”

Recognizing that registering voters does not insure that people actually vote, the GOTV collaborative is also developing strategies to engage high school and college students in the electoral process and non-profit agencies that serve populations that are least likely to vote.  In 2014, the collaborative developed a comprehensive toolkit for the general election that contains detailed information from how to register, where to vote (including online voter registration), how to operate a voting machine, to how to learn about the candidates.  The toolkit was recently updated for the Nov. 3 election.  A free GOTV toolkit is available at www.bcwac.org/resources/your-vote-is-your-voice and the calendar of voter registration drives is available at www.lwvbucks.org/calendar .

“We look forward to our second year of working together to empower citizens to vote.  GOTV is a growing network that empowers people to learn about important issues and improve our government.  We are eager to reach as many eligible voters as we can so they can participate in our great democracy.”
