The 70-mile Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park is one of central New Jersey's most popular recreational corridors for canoeing, jogging, hiking, bicycling, fishing and horseback riding. It is located within Central Park at 425 Wells Road in Doylestown Township, just outside of town. It is open 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset, and admission is free. The park is open year-round though the castle closes after the first freeze. Central Park is a 108-acre facility that includes tennis courts, volleyball, soccer fields, and 1.5 miles of biking and hiking trails. This paved, 12-foot wide trail will provide a non-motorized transportation and recreational facility for walkers, runners, skaters and cyclists. This new trail will enhance the region’s pedestrian and cycling network by connecting the large and growing system of trails in Montgomery and Bucks counties. The 202 Parkway Trail will have access points (with ample free parking) at:Knapp Road, Route 309, Stump Road near County Line Road, Bristol Road, and New Britian Road. This purpose is achieved by interpreting the historical significance of this site for thousands of Park visitors each year through tours, exhibits and various special events. The spirit of the 1776 Crossing is recreated every year on Christmas Day when the annual reenactment of Washington Crossing the Delaware takes place on December 25.
