Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia: It is more than a cemetery - it is an outdoor sculptural garden, a horticultural gem and a truly unique historical resource. It also happens to be one of the few cemeteries in the United States to be honored with the designation of National Historic Landmark. Come by for a tour or educational program, or simply stroll through 78 acres of art and history.
Slate Hill Cemetery in Lower Makefield Township: This is possibly the oldest burying grounds in Bucks County. It was established in 1690 and the earliest gravestone is dated 1698 and the latest 1918. The cemetery also contains the graves of six free African Americans who served in the Northern Army during the Civil War. The Slate Hill Cemetery is located at Yardley-Morrisville Rd. at Mahlon Dr. in Lower Makefield Township. It is open to the public with several entrances. Parking is available along the road. The Lower Makefield Township Historical Commission has a cemetery tour with re-enactors portraying characters throughout history from 1700 - 1929. The 2017 tour is October 28 from 4-7:30pm.
