A Sweet Celebration!
20th Anniversary Chocolate Lovers' Fantasy happens Saturday, May 2 at Bucks County Community College

Newtown, PA – On the first Saturday in May, A Woman’s Place (AWP) will mark two decades of its annual gala, the Chocolate Lovers’ Fantasy.

Co-chair Samantha Kraus notes that, “This event helps bring the issue of domestic violence to the forefront and provides much-needed funding for AWP to provide free services to victims of domestic violence as well as to the greater community. I can't thank our sponsors and volunteers enough for all that they have done to support this event and the important work of AWP.”

In addition to the cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and dinner that one would normally expect to find at a fundraising extravaganza, AWP’s sweet celebration features 55 feet of chocolate, a special anniversary chocolate cake, and even a chocolate fountain.

The event takes place from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 at majestic Tyler Hall on the campus of Bucks County Community College in Newtown. Tickets are $125 and may be purchased online at www.awomansplace.org or by calling 215.343.9241 x120.

“We’ve spared no effort to make this a standout occasion,” says Director of Public Advocacy Heather Giampapa. “In addition to great food and drink, the evening will also feature both a silent and live auction. Some of the more novel items up for bid include:

  • Unique Dining in Bucks Countya true gourmand experience that includes being a special guest star of the Eat This web series as you and host Chuck Thomas take a bite of the local foodie scene will being filmed Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives style!
  • The “Manly Man” BasketIncludes in-studio visit to the Preston & Steve Show on WMMR; four tickets to a 2015 Trenton Thunder game; signed photo of Eagles Tight End Zach Ertz; gift cards and more!
  • Behind the Scenes at Michener – Curator of Collections Constance Kimmerle takes you and three guests on a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Michener while you converse about the museum’s artistic treasures.
  • Law Enforcement for the Day – Ever wonder what it would be like to be in law enforcement? Wonder no more, as you and three friends experience the same state-of-the-art training simulator that the Bensalem police officers use.
  • An Adirondack Getaway – Spend a long fall weekend in September or October relaxing on the lake, hiking the local trails, or just enjoying the foliage at this three bedroom, two bath chalet on the north shore of Paradox Lake in the Adirondacks.

 The “Your Adventure Awaits” raffle will also be held that evening. Tickets cost $20 and may be purchased online at www.awomasplace.org. Each raffle ticket offers a chance to win a choice of three prizes*, and ticket holders need not be present at the event to win:

  • The Harbor Cities Duet is a trip for two to Seattle WA and Victoria BC that captures the spirit of the Pacific Northwest. 
  • The Superior Wine Experience is a trip to the Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa (in Sonoma CA) to indulge in signature wines and pampering.
  • The Ultimate Top Gun Experience welcomes two people to be fighter pilot for a day in a military aircraft (available at various locations including NJ & NY).
